Effective Date: August 5, 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Cothran Schoonover Insurance website located at https://c-sinsurance.com/, including its pages, forms, online tools, content, and related services (collectively, the “Website”).
The Website is operated by Cothran Schoonover, LLC, doing business as Cothran Schoonover Insurance (referred to in these Terms as “Cothran Schoonover Insurance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). (“Cothran Schoonover Insurance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Website, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Website.
1. Purpose of the Website
The Website provides general information about Cothran Schoonover Insurance, insurance products, insurance carriers, coverage options, risk-management topics, agency services, and ways to contact our agency.
Website content is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not an insurance policy, binder, endorsement, declaration, certificate of insurance, legal opinion, tax opinion, financial recommendation, or guarantee that any particular insurance product, price, carrier, coverage, limit, deductible, discount, or service is available or appropriate for you.
2. Eligibility and Authority
You may use the Website only if you are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement. By using the Website or submitting information through it, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to provide it.
If you submit information on behalf of a business, organization, property owner, policyholder, or another person, you represent that you have authority to act on that party’s behalf.
3. Insurance Products and Carrier Relationships
Cothran Schoonover Insurance is an independent insurance agency. Insurance products are issued and underwritten by third-party insurance carriers, not by this Website.
Product availability, eligibility, rates, coverage terms, limits, exclusions, conditions, underwriting requirements, and discounts vary by carrier, state, applicant, and risk. All insurance coverage is subject to the actual terms, conditions, exclusions, endorsements, and underwriting approval of the applicable insurance policy and carrier.
References to insurance products, carriers, or coverage options do not constitute a promise that coverage will be available, offered, issued, or renewed.
4. Quotes, Applications, and Requests for Information
A quote, indication, estimate, rate comparison, proposal, or other information provided through the Website or following a Website submission is not a contract of insurance and does not guarantee a final premium or coverage.
Any quote or proposal may change based on underwriting review, inspections, claims history, credit-based insurance information where permitted, reports obtained from third parties, updated application information, carrier rules, or other relevant factors.
You are responsible for reviewing all applications, proposals, policy forms, declarations, exclusions, endorsements, limits, deductibles, and other documents for accuracy and suitability. Promptly notify us of any incorrect or incomplete information.
5. Coverage Cannot Be Bound or Changed Through the Website
Insurance coverage cannot be bound, issued, renewed, reinstated, modified, or canceled solely by:
- Using the Website;
- Submitting an online form;
- Sending an email or text message;
- Leaving a voicemail;
- Uploading documents;
- Requesting a quote; or
- Receiving an automated confirmation.
A request affecting insurance coverage is not effective unless and until it has been reviewed and expressly confirmed by an authorized representative of Cothran Schoonover Insurance or the applicable insurance carrier.
Do not use the Website, email, voicemail, or text messaging for an emergency, a time-sensitive claim, an immediate coverage change, policy cancellation, or any matter with a deadline. Contact our office or the applicable insurance carrier directly using a verified telephone number.
6. Accuracy of Information You Provide
You agree to provide complete, current, and accurate information. Material omissions, misrepresentations, or inaccuracies may affect eligibility, premium, underwriting, claim handling, or the validity of insurance coverage.
You must not submit information that is false, misleading, fraudulent, unlawful, or that you are not authorized to provide.
7. Online Forms and Document Submissions
The Website may allow you to submit contact information, renewal dates, insurance information, declarations pages, applications, questions, or other documents.
Submission of information does not obligate Cothran Schoonover Insurance or any insurance carrier to provide a quote, contact you, offer coverage, or issue a policy.
Standard internet forms, email, SMS, and MMS may not be encrypted. Unless we specifically direct you to an approved secure submission method, do not send highly sensitive information such as:
- Social Security numbers;
- Bank account information;
- Credit or debit card information;
- Passwords or login credentials;
- Complete driver’s license images;
- Medical records or detailed health information; or
- Other confidential financial or identification information.
8. Electronic Communications
When you contact us electronically, submit a form, or provide an email address or telephone number, you consent to receive communications necessary to respond to your submission, administer your request, provide requested services, or complete a transaction, subject to applicable law and the communication preferences and consents you provide.
Consent for one communication method or purpose does not automatically constitute consent for every communication method or purpose. In particular, providing a telephone number for customer service does not, by itself, enroll you in an automated marketing text-message program.
9. Customer-Service and Informational Text Messages
Existing customers and individuals receiving a specifically requested service may receive automated or manually sent non-marketing text messages when they provide a mobile telephone number in connection with an insurance policy, application, transaction, appointment, inquiry, or service request and when such messages are permitted by applicable law.
Customer-service and informational text messages may include:
- Appointment confirmations and reminders;
- Policy-service communications;
- Requests for information, signatures, or documents;
- Application and underwriting updates;
- Payment, billing, renewal, or expiration reminders;
- Claim-related communications;
- Responses to questions or service requests;
- Security or account-related notices; and
- Other non-promotional communications reasonably related to an existing insurance relationship or requested service.
These customer-service messages are separate from our marketing text-message program. We will not rely solely on a telephone number provided for customer service to send automated text messages advertising additional products or encouraging an additional purchase.
10. Marketing Text Messages
Prospective customers and other individuals may choose to receive recurring automated marketing text messages from Cothran Schoonover Insurance by completing a separate opt-in process.
Marketing messages may relate to:
- An upcoming personal or commercial insurance renewal;
- Insurance quote opportunities;
- Insurance products, services, and coverage options;
- Requests for information or documents needed to prepare a quote;
- Available insurance carriers or agency services;
- Appointment scheduling and reminders;
- Follow-up concerning a submitted renewal date or inquiry; and
- Other insurance-related marketing described in the disclosure presented when consent is requested.
When you select text messaging as a contact method, affirmatively check the applicable unchecked consent box, provide the mobile telephone number to be contacted, provide an electronic signature when requested, and submit the form, you expressly authorize Cothran Schoonover Insurance and its representatives acting on its behalf to send the marketing text messages described in the consent disclosure to that number.
Marketing texts may be sent using an automatic telephone dialing system or other automated technology. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to receive marketing text messages is not a condition of purchasing insurance, receiving a quote, or obtaining any goods or services.
The specific disclosure displayed next to the consent box at the time you opt in is incorporated into these Terms. If that disclosure is more specific than these Terms, the point-of-consent disclosure controls with respect to that consent.
11. Marketing Telephone Calls and Do Not Call Authorization
A prospective customer may expressly ask Cothran Schoonover Insurance to call regarding an upcoming insurance renewal, an insurance quote, coverage options, insurance products, or related agency services.
When you complete a written telephone-consent process that identifies Cothran Schoonover Insurance, provides the telephone number that may be called, includes the applicable consent disclosure, and includes your electronic signature, you expressly authorize Cothran Schoonover Insurance and its representatives acting on its behalf to place the marketing calls described in that disclosure to the number you provided.
When expressly stated in the consent disclosure, your authorization applies even if the telephone number is listed on a federal or state Do Not Call registry. This authorization is limited to Cothran Schoonover Insurance and representatives acting on its behalf. It does not authorize unaffiliated third parties to place marketing calls to you.
If the point-of-consent disclosure expressly authorizes artificial or prerecorded voice calls or other automated calling technology, your consent covers those methods. Consent to an ordinary live call will not be treated as consent to receive an artificial-voice or prerecorded marketing call unless the applicable disclosure expressly says so.
Consent to receive marketing calls is not a condition of purchasing insurance, receiving a quote, or obtaining any goods or services. You may revoke permission at any time. A company-specific request that we stop calling overrides prior permission to call.
12. Electronic Signatures and Consent Records
When a form asks you to type your name as an electronic signature, checking the applicable consent box, typing your name, and submitting the form constitutes your electronic signature and indicates your agreement to the disclosure presented with the form.
We may retain records relating to consent and communications, including:
- Your name and electronic signature;
- The telephone number you provided;
- The contact method you selected;
- The consent box or other affirmative action you completed;
- The exact or versioned disclosure presented to you;
- The date and time of submission or consent;
- The form or webpage through which consent was provided;
- Internet Protocol address and browser or device information;
- Campaign, source, prospect, or submission identifiers; and
- Records of opt-out, revocation, and Do Not Call requests.
We may maintain these records for compliance, auditing, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and proof-of-consent purposes.
13. Text-Message Frequency, Charges, and Delivery
Message frequency varies based on your relationship with us, the program in which you participate, your interactions with us, and the services or information you request.
Message and data rates may apply. Charges are determined by your wireless carrier and mobile service plan. Cothran Schoonover Insurance does not charge a separate fee for participating in its text-messaging programs.
Message delivery is subject to your wireless carrier and network provider. Messages may be delayed, filtered, blocked, or undelivered because of network availability, carrier policies, device settings, number reassignment, or circumstances outside our control. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Participation requires a compatible device and active wireless service. The messaging program may not be available through every carrier, device, or geographic area.
14. How to Stop Text Messages or Request Help
You may revoke consent to receive text messages by replying STOP to a message from us. You may also communicate a clear opt-out request using another reasonable method.
After an opt-out request, you may receive one final non-promotional message confirming that the request has been processed. We will not send additional messages covered by the revoked consent unless you later provide valid consent again.
For text-message assistance, reply HELP to a message from us, call (434) 239-2886, or email rachel@c-sinsurance.com.
A request to stop text messages does not necessarily stop manually placed telephone calls, email, or postal communications unless your request also covers those communication methods.
15. How to Stop Marketing Telephone Calls
You may revoke permission to receive marketing telephone calls from Cothran Schoonover Insurance by:
- Telling the representative who calls you not to call again;
- Calling (434) 239-2886;
- Emailing rachel@c-sinsurance.com; or
- Using another reasonable method that clearly communicates your request.
We will honor company-specific Do Not Call and consent-revocation requests as required by applicable law.
16. Privacy and Mobile Information
Our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information are described in our Privacy Policy.
We do not share, sell, rent, or provide mobile telephone numbers, text-messaging opt-in information, or messaging consent information to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
We may use service providers that help us transmit messages, operate communications systems, maintain records, provide technical support, or perform services on our behalf. They may process information only as reasonably necessary to provide those services and are not authorized to use mobile opt-in or consent information for their own marketing.
This restriction does not prevent us from sharing other information with insurance carriers, brokers, claims administrators, service providers, governmental authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to obtain or provide an insurance quote, service a policy, process a requested transaction, prevent fraud, comply with law, or perform another legitimate business function described in our Privacy Policy.
17. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, the Website and its text, graphics, logos, designs, photographs, videos, software, layout, and other content are owned by, licensed to, or used with permission by Cothran Schoonover Insurance and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may view, print, or download Website content for your personal, noncommercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, republish, modify, display, sell, license, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit Website content without prior written permission from the applicable rights holder.
Insurance carrier names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Reference to a carrier does not imply that the carrier sponsors or controls the Website.
18. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Website to:
- Violate any law, regulation, court order, or third-party right;
- Submit false, fraudulent, misleading, or unauthorized information;
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your authority;
- Transmit malware, harmful code, or disruptive material;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data;
- Interfere with the Website’s security, operation, or availability;
- Harvest personal information or send unsolicited communications;
- Use automated tools to scrape or copy content without permission; or
- Use the Website for an unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent purpose.
We may restrict or terminate access to the Website when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or when necessary to protect users, systems, data, or legal rights.
19. Third-Party Websites, Tools, and Services
The Website may contain links to or integrations with insurance carriers, quote platforms, scheduling tools, document-submission services, payment services, mapping services, social-media platforms, and other third parties.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, availability, and content. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites or services, even when they are linked from or embedded in the Website.
20. Website Availability and Changes
We may change, suspend, discontinue, restrict, or update any part of the Website without notice. We do not guarantee that the Website will always be available, secure, uninterrupted, current, complete, or error-free.
Website content may contain typographical, technical, or factual errors. We may correct or update content at any time, but we are not obligated to update every item immediately.
21. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE WEBSITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
COTHRAN SCHOONOVER INSURANCE DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, SECURITY, AND AVAILABILITY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Nothing in these Terms alters the terms, obligations, rights, or protections contained in an insurance policy issued by an insurance carrier.
22. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COTHRAN SCHOONOVER INSURANCE AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE WEBSITE.
THIS LIMITATION DOES NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED. IT ALSO DOES NOT MODIFY THE RIGHTS OR OBLIGATIONS PROVIDED BY AN INSURANCE POLICY OR APPLICABLE INSURANCE LAW.
23. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cothran Schoonover Insurance and its owners, officers, employees, agents, and representatives from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the Website, your material violation of these Terms, or information you submit without authorization.
24. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent that another jurisdiction’s law must apply.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right or remedy that cannot be waived under applicable consumer-protection, insurance, privacy, telecommunications, or other law.
25. Severability and No Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
A failure to enforce a provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
26. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in the Website, communications programs, business practices, carrier requirements, or applicable law.
Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Changes will apply prospectively to the extent required by law. An update to these Terms will not expand the scope of an existing marketing consent when additional consent is required by law.
27. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any specific disclosure, agreement, application, policy, or carrier term applicable to a particular transaction, constitute the applicable agreement concerning your use of the Website.
If these Terms conflict with an issued insurance policy, the insurance policy controls with respect to the insurance coverage provided under that policy.
